The theory test
is made up of two parts; the
multiple choice part and the
hazard perception part. You'll
need to pass both parts to pass
the theory test. The multiple
choice test is a touch screen
computer test where you'll be
asked 50 questions in 57
minutes.
The pass mark for this part of the
theory test is 43 out of 50.
The hazard perception
part is a computer based test to
assess how well you can
recognise and respond to hazards
on the road. The pass mark for
the hazard perception test for
car drivers is 44 out of 75.
If you wish
your instructor can give you
help with your theory test. Many
pupils decide they do not need
such help and study for the
theory test using various
methods and study materials. If
you are confident you can 'go it
alone' then we wish you all the
best.
However, even
if you choose to do this please
feel free to consult your
instructor with regards to the
best study material available.
He/she can also supply the
reference books / DVD's at a
reasonable cost, or you can
obtain them via this web site.

You may
however consider it beneficial
to seek help from your
instructor, in particular in
relation to the Hazard
Perception element of the theory
test. This is the area in which
most pupils have difficulty, and
the area in which your
instructor is best able to help.
See our
links
page for a great new way to
study for your theory test.

part of your theory test on line
