We actually do care about your progress and want you to succeed. We take pride in our reputation and success rate. We will treat you as an individual and do our best to offer you the standards of service and commitment that we would expect if we were the ones learning to drive! Our instructors are all committed to the DSA directive of “Safe Driving for Life”.
The founder and owner of the driving school - Nigel, is a recently retired senior police officer. You can therefore be certain that your driving instructor is reliable and trustworthy. You will be in safe hands with an A5Drive driving instructor.
If you are reading this page then quite probably you are considering learning to drive or you are looking to find a driving instructor for a friend or family member.
Driving lessons are offered to any provisional licence holder from 17 years of age onwards. We offer driving lessons to learner drivers seven day a week mainly between 8am and 8pm. Daytime driving lessons (Mon-Fri) are usually readily available. For evening and weekends you may have to make an advance booking to secure the time that is most convenient to you.
An additional benefit of learning with A5Drive; one which is not readily available with independent instructors, is the opportunity to undergo a mock test with our senior instructor. This is an invaluable benefit, replicating test conditions, which allows the pupil to experience what a test is really like. It also aids the pupil with their confidence when subsequently taking the real test, helping them overcome those dreaded nerves. Comprehensive feedback is provided to both pupil and instructor. This can form the basis of an action plan for subsequent lessons to ensure the pupil is driving to the best of his/her ability come the real test.
The prices for our driving lessons are very competitive and offer excellent value for your money. (see Lessons/Prices page)
If you wish to give a gift of driving tuition, gift vouchers are available for any number of driving lessons.
To contact our office to either book your driving lessons or to discuss your tuition in detail, you can either phone and speak to one of our friendly staff who will be happy to advise you further, or you can send an e-mail and we will get back to you.

Nigel is the co-owner and founder of A5Drive School of Motoring. He has been a DSA licensed driving instructor for 7 years. He is a ‘grade 5’ instructor (instructors are graded by the DSA from 1 to 6) and has a very high pass rate. He is a friendly and popular instructor and all his pupils come from referrals from previous pupils.
He became a driving instructor after retiring from the police, having completed 30 years service. During his police career he spent many years driving rapid response and pursuit vehicles, where he honed his driving skills, and most importantly his hazard awareness.
During this 30 years Nigel performed a variety of duties including uniform response, crime investigation, public order, drugs and surveillance. As his career developed he rose through the ranks and retired as a Chief Inspector based at New Scotland Yard responsible for day to day policing across the whole of London.
Thirty years police service also gave Nigel excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations and under pressure. These are ideal attributes to his current role as a driving instructor.
